One of the expeditions I led with the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse Outdoor Connection. This 10 day canoe and hiking trip was a tremendous learning experience and an awesome way to spend part of winter break. Our journey began driving two loaded down vans from Wisconsin to the bottom of Texas where our paddle down the Rio Grande River began.
I shared many laughs and much quality time with the students that came along and further developed a wonderful friendship with Rachel my co-lead. These trips were always a team effort and I'm so very grateful for all the trip-leaders I've ever shared the responsibilities of a real trip with. Rach and I worked many hours together planning and preparing to make this thing happen and it payed off with an unforgettable adventure. This included: sleeping in the Santa Elena Canyon on the side of the river, soaking in the hot springs, climbing the tallest peak in Texas, sock gloves, pooping in 'Bae' (our portable toilet), running rapids, getting stuck and of curse sleeping under a full sky of stars every night to name a few.
