"It's a choice to view the world with a positive attitude. We must choose to find the beauty in our life and make the most of our situations by taking advantage of opportunities. I truly believe that outdoor experiences are the best way to feel more alive and the most human. Choose to improve today and strive towards a worthy ideal. Don’t wait for the perfect moment to start something new or take a leap of faith, be intentional with your actions and make your dreams grow into your reality.”
Photography allows me to keep art intertwined with my life while pursuing an adventurous career utilizing my deep passion for the outdoors and education. Both my loving parents work as art teachers and since I was a boy, I've been surrounded by individuals who have inspired me to view the world from a creative perspective. My sister Julia and I were always encouraged to be expressive through unique avenues - we grew up painting, drawing, sculpting, tie-dying and generally making a huge mess somewhere, especially on the pottery wheel (my favorite). I've always loved creating things and am constantly inspired by the textures and vastness of nature. It wasn't until I entered college that I really found my artistic voice through photography.
The intense and remote places that are hard to reach are my favorites. My work as a wilderness guide has allowed me to travel to many new places and meet some wonderful people along the way. One of my goals with photography is to inspire others to pursue trips of their own and seek out the amazing beauty that's all around us!
